International Education Committee (IEC)

Responding to the 1999 Report of the Task Force on International Education in January 1999, this cross-campus committee was established in March 2003 to provide a forum to:

  • develop a dialogue on international programs and activities

  • serve as a catalyst for good ideas

  • build support for international education

Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, this group is currently Chaired by the Director of Extended Education and International Programs. In addition to representation by Extended Education and International Programs, the committee membership includes the Academic Council for International Programs (ACIP) representative, a faculty representative from each of the Colleges, the Director of Risk Management, the Director of Admissions and Records, one international student, and one community representative.

The committee conducts its meetings monthly and now serves the university by informing the campus of international activities and issues, providing guidance and facilitation to academic departments seeking to add international components to their program, reviewing and advising on proposed international programs and activities, recommending campus policies and procedures for overseas travel and exchange, and coordinating the development of a robust and varied set of international programs and activities to enable all students, regardless of discipline or economic situation, full access to international learning experiences.
